100 Years of Debussy
The French composer Claude Debussy (1862- 1918) was one of the most important composers of the beginning of the 20th century. His work marks the transition from late romantic to modern music. During his life he came into contact with several other composers like Tsjaikovski and Wagner. After developing his own sound, he said the romantic style farewell. Samama places the life and works of Debussy in a cultural-historic perspective and illustrates his course with musical examples and on CD.
